Average Spanish Energy |
Year of creation2000 |
Summary
This first project presents a series
of characteristic elements of what we consider the Spanish culture of energy, which end up in the composition of a boxing ring. Without
words, and basing our work mainly on gestures, the actions take place while the two participants drink a bottle of wine each. It's not
that boxing is popular in Spain, or anything, but imitation, automatic opposition, and drunkenness as an easy way out certainly are.

Lamata and Vallaure, as classic as one can get, have
been researching the field of animal behaviour for over
20 years now, particularly the behaviour of primates. One
of their most permanent obsessions is how to translate
their spontaneous manifestations into expressive elements
which can be understood by someone else.
With this purpose, they have developed this contemporary
rumpus which one could interpret as a ritual.
